The GNSC is made up of many different members including Neighbourhood Groups, Coalition Partner Members, a Board of Directors, and GNSC Staff.

A Neighbourhood Group (NG) is made up of community members volunteering together in specific geographic areas of Guelph to serve the unique needs of their neighbourhood. For example, providing programs, resources, and/or events. Most Neighbourhood Groups are volunteer led and some additionally have support and/or programming staff. Neighbourhood Groups come in different shapes and sizes; click here to learn or find your local neighbourhood group.

The Neighbourhood Panel (NP) is a committee made up of community members from each Neighbourhood Group. Each NG appoints at least one representative to sit on the NP. The NP meets three to four times a year to share information and resources, provide mentorship to each other, and develop partnerships and sometimes programs collaboratively.

Five representatives from the Neighbourhood Panel are nominated to serve on the Board of Directors.

Coalition Partners Members include civic, social, educational, and/or human service organizations and businesses working in Guelph-Wellington to support the vision and mission of the GNSC and the member Neighbourhood Groups. Partner Members have officially signed up to be members of the Coalition reflecting their commitment to support Neighbourhood Groups. Click here to meet our Partner Members.

The Partner Panel is made of one representative from each Coalition Partner Member. and there are currently 12 Partner Members active on the Partner Panel. The Partner Panel meets three or four times a year to share resources, programs, and services that can be accessed by the community. It is also a space for other members of the Coalition to give feedback and help partners reflect on how they can better listen and include community voices in their work and program development.

Five representatives from the Partner Panel are nominated to serve on the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors is made of 12 members: 5 Neighbourhood Panel representatives, 5 Partner Organization representatives, and two community-at-large members. The Board of Directors serves as the Coalition’s governing body, making decisions about structure, operations, finance, and more. The Board’s role is to support the GNSC and Neighbourhood Group staff, who make more of the day to day decisions about how the Coalition and it’s Neighbourhood groups operate in the community.

The Neighbourhood Group Staff are on the ground staff and embedded within neighbourhoods to support residents in their geographic areas. They support identifying and responding to local needs and providing programs and services. Some Neighbourhoood Groups have dedicated paid staff while others rely on volunteers.

The Administration Staff at the GNSC work across the Coalition to support its members, staff, and program partners. Admin staff work involves supporting, sustaining, and growing the organization.

The GNSC would like to acknowledge the generous support provided by the City of Guelph, The United Way, The Guelph Community Foundation, and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Without this support, we would not be able to do our work! Learn more about our funders.
