Current Opportunities

Summer Camp Staff for 8 different neighbourhoods!

How to apply for a 2018 GNSC summer camp position:

  1. Read through the 5 different job opportunities below, and decide which position you’d like to apply to — for reference, the entry level position is our “Camp Leader” role.
  2. Visit the Neighbourhood Group map, and consider if there is a specific camp you’d like to apply to work at.
  3. Write us a cover letter about why you want to work as a camp leader this summer, and why you’ll be a great leader. In your letter, let us know which position(s) and Neighbourhood Group(s) you’re applying to. (We can’t guarantee there will be openings in the places you specify as a preference — but we’ll do our best to match applicants to the camps they request.)
  4. Add your updated resume and submit to before Thurs, Apr 26th, 2018!

The positions:

Neighbourhood Camp Site Supervisor:

Oversee the operations, staff and volunteers, spaces, and community relationships at each Neighbourhood Group camp. They take the lead in the pre-season planning, and work most directly with Neighbourhood Groups and community members.

Camp Assistant Supervisor:

Offer support for the Site Supervisors, and are often being mentored as future Site Supers. Assistants also have more work directly with the campers, and may even lead groups on a daily basis, depending on which Neighbourhood Group the candidate is working at.

Leaders in Training Coordinator:

Design and deliver Leadership Training programs for senior campers and junior leaders (11-15 yr old range). Often the LIT programs have some time in a workshop, or group learning experience setting in the mornings; and then offer in-camp group assisting experience in the afternoons, though each camp has a slightly different version of these amazing skill- and experience-building youth programs.

Camp Leader:

Bring positive, super-fun, and inclusion-based experiences to campers in neighbourhood settings. We attract amazing young people each year to our camps, and we are proud to offer summer jobs to youth who live, work, volunteer, and play in these neighbourhoods. Camp Leaders offer caring and safe support their campers, and bring a back pocket full of games, activities, crafts, songs, and general creative play.

One to One Leader:

Focus on supporting one or two campers at a time to have an integrated and amazing camp experience. Not everyone comes to camp with the opportunity to fit immediately into the culture, the games and activities, and the social opportunities on offer… one-one workers focus on helping little ones achieve that success.
